Introduction to RC Airplanes

It is cheap and easy to get started with rc airplanes. Here is a concise guide to help you buy and fly and r/c airplane for fun and without crashing.

Below is video of an rc airplane flying in a park. It's a Cessna 182 Parkflyer.

Electric Parkflyers for Beginners

For beginners, a good quality electric model is recommended. These are usually in the $180 price range, very affordable. I would stay clear of the cheap airplane models sold for less than $100. These are usually toys and sometimes do not fly per my experience.

Electric airplanes are good because you can run them in most parks and small fields without the need for permit or flight insurance.

Gas Powered Airplane Models

These are for experienced modelers and not recommend for beginners. You will need large areas to play in, and usually need permit and flight insurance.

Where to Buy
